Handmade Casebound Book - Navy, Grey & Black

Hand bound by book artist Patti Paulus. The cover is original paste paper in slate and navy, raked through in long horizontal passes while the paint was still wet, so the surface reads as weather over water. It is the most restrained cover in the range, and the pattern belongs to this book alone. The spine is grey book cloth, divided from the paste paper by a thin black line, with a black ribbon marker sewn in.

The book is cased in rather than exposed. The sections are sewn by hand onto linen tapes and finished the traditional way, with mull, Japanese paper, and headbands at head and tail, then covered so the structure is hidden.

At 6 by 5 inches the format is landscape and pocketable, with eighty lined pages on 70 lb acid free text weight.
